Frequently Asked Questions

What is Micropigmentation / Microblading?

Micropigmentation is the technical name for cosmetic tattooing or permanent makeup.  Microblading revers to specific technique, in which the pigments are inserted into the skin manually with a “blade” comprised of a row of tiny needles, rather than with a machine.  Microblading mimics natural hair growth patterns and has a more natural effect than traditional solid eyebrow tattooing done with a machine.

How does it differ from a regular tattoo?

The difference lies in the depth at which we implant the ink into the skin. In microblading we only want to reach the top of the dermal layer of the skin.  This depth allows us to see clean lines as well as warm and rich tones leaving a natural result.  This also allows the pigments to fade over time.  Traditional tattoos are planted deeper into the skin.

How long does it last?

This answer varies from person to person, based on a few different factors (activity level, sweating, oiliness of skin, sun exposure, skin care routine, how well you follow the after car instructions).  For most the service will last roughly a year, for those with problematic skin, it can be expected to last roughly six to eight months.  The exact longevity cannot be guaranteed but routine touch ups will keep your brows looking fresh.

How painful is it going to be?

This also depends and varies from person to person.  You will be numbed prior to and during your procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible.  Keep in mind if you are on your period you may be more sensitive so try to schedule around it.

What exactly is the procedure?

When you arrive we will consult and fill out some paperwork.  We will map out your brows based on your bone structure and together choose a thickness and density you like.  We will then numb you, and begin the microblading process.  After we finish all of your strokes on your brows we will apply an after care balm and you will be given detailed after care instructions.  The process takes about one and a half hours.

Can you do my brows if I got them done somewhere else previously?

Pictures will have to be submitted prior to making an appointment and will be evaluated.  Pricing may vary. In some cakes your just have to wait it out if you are unhappy with previous work or look into removal methods.  If it is possible and I think I can help you out then we can try.  Results are not guaranteed.

Is there anything else I should know before I come in before my appointment?  Anything I should do?

Your appointment will need to be made one month prior to and one month after receiving Botox treatments, a minimum of one month before any trips to the beach, or periods of high activity.  It is also not recommended that you schedule your appointment close to any special events as you will be going through a healing period and it is a two-step process.  Also try to schedule your appointment around your period! If it is that time of the month you may be more sensitive to pain. If you like you may bring some reference photos of brows you like and may wear your makeup how you typically like it so I can get an idea of how dramatic or subtle we should go.

What should I do to care for my new brows?

You will be sent home with aftercare product and explicit instructions.  It is CRUCIAL to follow these because they directly affect the outcome of your new brows.  After receiving your treatment you will want to keep anything but your provided aftercare product off your brows for FIVE DAYS.  You will want to protect your brows from the sun, as well as direct and dust, they are an open wound and should be treated as such.  You always want to keep any anti-aging creams, serums, or anything that will promote cell regeneration away from your bows.  Fast cell regeneration means fast fading!! Just be mindful.  After receiving your treatment you must always alert anyone else providing treatments that you have a cosmetic tattoo.  (Such as anyone giving a chemical peel, laser treatment, MRI etc.)

What should I expect right after, and the days following my treatment?

Right after you may be a little shocked when you see yourself and that is OK.  When we do your treatment the goal is to make your brows slightly darker and thicker than is desired to allow for significant fading.  You must keep in mind that after your brows heal the color will not pop as much and will not be as pronounced.  The final result will be much more subdued so it is important that you be patient and let the healing process take its course.  Trying to scrub pigment off or use any substances to increase fading may lead to infection and possible scarring.  Around the five day point you will notice the surface layer of the very pronounced pigment wear away, as the skin is healing there is complimentary first touch up treatment and is always scheduled to check for color retention, symmetry, and to make sure you are happy with the result.  We can always go darker and bolder.  After your first touch up as healed if you would like to keep boosting the result, you may get periodical touch ups which vary in price based on the time in between appointments.
